About Us

Project Moz is a registered charity that financially supports work being carried out in Mozambique, principally the care of orphaned children and the running of community projects. These projects include supporting business ventures, care and education for children, providing food and medicine to families in need and health education for adults.

Project Moz was founded by people who have had first-hand experience of the awe-inspiring changes being made to the lives of people in Mozambique, and who want to allow others to contribute to the work being carried out in this poverty stricken country.

We hope that after exploring the site, you will be inspired by the amazing work that has already taken place in this beautiful country, and challenged by the enormity of what has yet to be achieved. It is our hope that you will want to be involved in supporting these exciting projects that we are so passionate about.

Project Moz was set up in 2010 by three Trustees who dedicate their spare time to the running of the charity. Our team now consists of six trustees, including an accountant and a website manager.

Who We Are

Mozambique

Mozambique, located on the south east coast of Africa, has suffered from political unrest and natural disasters, such as the widely publicised floods of 2000. In 1975 the country gained independence after almost five centuries as a Portuguese colony. Since the end of the 16 year civil war in 1992, Mozambique has been steadily rebuilding its economy and civil infrastructures.

In recent years Mozambique has seen high economic growth rates, however it is still amongst the poorest countries in the world. The spread of AIDS and malaria are responsible for Mozambique having life expectancy and infant mortality rates that are both among the worst ranked in the world.
