The All Nations orphanage now has 31 children in their care and they are up to maximum capacity. Pieter and Rika (who run the orphanage) have met with the Director of Social Welfare to discuss this, but are reluctant to declare themselves ‘full’ as there is nowhere else for abandoned children to be brought to. The build of ‘Casa Gemma’ will help create more space should there be a need for more children to be housed.
One of the babyhouses has had difficulties receiving any water to the house, but thanks to donations from supporters, they have been able to purchase a portable water tank that can be filled and transported to the house to provide water for washing, drinking and sanitation.
In addition to supporting some local families with food parcels, Pieter and Rika are buying formula milk for some mothers who are unable to breastfeed their babies, one of whom has just had triplets. If you would like to support this, please see our ‘food parcels’ project (under the 'projects' tab).
Project Moz are still focussing fundraising efforts on the Casa Gemma project, raising funds to build a home for 15 children.
Our August dinner dance fundraiser was a resounding success, with 100 guests and a total of £5,000 raised. Plans for a similar event in April next year are underway!
Between 18th and the 31st October, Project Moz are encouraging supporters to take on a challenge to raise money to go towards a Project Moz cause of their choice (see our website for a full list of our projects). Why not do a 10k run, abseil down a building or hold a cake sale for Project Moz!?
At the end of the fortnight, the fundraiser who has raised the most money will win a case of wine and will feature on our website. So if you’d like to set yourself a personal challenge whilst making a difference to the lives of the people of Mozambique, please get involved!
