Helping to make a world of difference

Nicols

Nicols was born on the 12th July 2007. His mother was HIV-positive and Nicols also struggles with his health. When Nicols was born, his mother was already very sick from Aids, and was suffering from mental illness as well. After the birth, Nicols’ mother tried to suffocate him, but he was saved by the nurses. She died a week later in hospital.

Nicols was brought to the babyhouse, at which point he was very malnourished and traumatised. Since then he has gained weight and his condition has improved. However despite being on anti retroviral drugs, he suffers a lot from symptoms of the disease, and has particular difficulties with his skin. In the summer of 2008 he got meningitis and had to spend weeks in hospital. Although this disease is extremely dangerous, he survived.

Despite his susceptibility to illness and skin problems, Nicols rewards those who care for him with quiet laughter and a very gentle, charming nature. It is impossible not to want to cuddle this little boy when you meet him.

At the start of 2010, Nicols went back to live with his father, who is now able to provide for him. Nicols seems really happy to be ack at his home, and comes to visit All Nations with his father sometimes. All Nations still help provide for him through the giving of a weekly food parcel.
