Dudu was born on the 15th of December 2004. Both his mother and father died of AIDS and so Dudu was left at a small church at Camp2000 (a refugee camp after the 2000 floods).
Since the church could not take care of him, Dudu came to the babyhouse in September 2005. He was malnourished and had sores all over his body, including in his mouth and down his throat, which meant he struggled severely with eating.
Despite having some ongoing difficulties with his health, Dudu now stays well most of the time. He still has to visit the doctor often as he suffers with ear problems and cognitively he is a little behind children of his age. Despite all this he is a very happy boy who loves to sing, run around and together with Luis and Paulo he is always on the look out for something to eat!
He is great friends with Hawa, and they spend a great deal of time playing together. Dudu has taken it upon himself to protect Hawa from the world!
